Privacy and the Protection of Your Personal Information
During the course of our research, it will be necessary for us to collect personal information from research study participants. This information takes the form of personal identification information (e.g. name and address) and clinical or lifestyle information that can be identified by us as belonging to a named individual (personal eating habits, results of medical tests).
We respect this information and are committed to protecting and using it responsibly.
In compliance with the Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) of Canada, we are legally required to protect this information, and to ensure we obtain an informed consent for its use in the course of our research.
As part of our requirements under PIPEDA, we have a privacy officer. The privacy officer is the person you should contact if you have questions or concerns about our privacy policy and procedures, or if you wish to understand how the information we collected from you has been used.
