The treatment of various cancers is complex and involves a combination of surgery, radiation therapy and chemotherapy with cytotoxic drugs. In the case of PEPs (peripheral ethanolamine plasmalogens), it is our goal to examine the potential utility of replacing novel endogenous biochemical systems that prevent cancer formation. The initial focus is on colorectal cancer in which PDI has monitored such metabolic insufficiencies that are thought to provide an environment in which cancer can develop.
